UAE Armed Forces
In 2007 Optimal Performance Limited (OPL) were commissioned by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) General Head Quarters (GHQ) to examine the health and nutrition of students at a Military High School (MHS) in Al Ain. Subsequently OPL was tasked by UAE GHQ to set up and run the Health and Sports Medicine Centre (HSMC) at the MHS with seven permanent health professionals based in country. This has led to Optimal Performance Limited establishing a branch office in Abu Dhabi and extending our work programme with UAE GHQ to encompass a second contractual term at the MHS.
In 2009 Optimal Performance Limited consultants based in the UK were contracted by UAE GHQ to evaluate the health, nutrition and physical fitness of Officer Cadets across the UAE Armed Forces. Audits were conducted over a six month period at five locations to examine: Basic, Navy, Air Force and Army Officer training courses. Detailed measures were made of Officer Cadets’ physiological responses to training, nutritional intake and general physical fitness. Recommendations were presented to UAE GHQ to optimise training, with such recommendations likely to fall under the expanded remit of the HSMC scheduled in the near future.
